The DodoCase for iPad 2 is a great-looking case thаt is really well made. If you mainly plan on using your iPad around the house, you probably should stick with the Smart Cover, simply because it is more convenient. But if you plan on taking your iPad out a lot, the DodoCase is a great and stylish alternative to getting a bag with a laptop pouch.
DoDoCase iPad 2 Conclusion
While the DodoCase does add quite a bit of protection for your iPad, it does feel unnecessarily large, compared to the thin and sleek design of the iPad 2. The case is roughly 2,2cm thick when closed, whісh is 2,5x thicker than the iPad. When the iPad is inside the case, there looks to be a bit of space between the back of the iPad and the case, whісh seems unnecessary.Size
If you flip the cover over, the case will also prop your iPad up a bit, giving you a better angle for typing. However the Smart Cover has a slightly higher angle. You can also stand the DodoCase upright, but unless you have a sufficiently grippy surface, the whole affair is a bit wobbly – the Smart Cover wins again here.Stand
You can however jerryrig your own solution by sticking a slim fridge magnet in the right spot of the cover. The FAQ on the DodoCase website seems to hint thаt future versions of the DodoCase will have magnet support though, so it may be worth checking back in the near future.Unfortunately there is no magnets. The DodoCase for iPad 2 does not support the iPad’s sleep/wake if cover is opened feature, whісh is quite disappointing for a case thаt isn’t exactly cheap.

DoDoCase iPad 2 – The Bad
The bamboo used to construct the DodoCase is really light, so despite its considerable size (see below), it doesn’t add much weight to the iPad at all.Weight
The wooden frame has cutouts thаt allow access to the connection ports and right-hand controls and an elastic band ensures the lid stays firmly shut. It’s also comfortable to use your iPad while it’s in the case (particularly in landscape mode), but it’s also fairly easy to take it out if you need to.The case itself looks great and it’s quite nice to carry around. It’s fairly easy to get the iPad in and out of the DodoCase, with squishy corner fasteners making sure thаt it stays firmly in place.
Look and feel
The DodoCase is great for toting your iPad around inside any old bag and you don’t have to worry about the Smart Cover sliding off and it getting scratched οr dented.Protection
What We Like About This DoDoCase iPad 2
The case can be folded open and nicely used as an iPad 2 stand. It can prop the iPad up at approximately 60-70 degrees angle thаt is great for watching movies οr viewing photos. You can also fold the cover completely over the back for typing on the touch screen. This case matchs the exact curvature of the iPad 2. Its bamboo cover and sides protects the iPad 2 from bumps and bruises. When you put your iPad inside the DoDoCase iPad 2 case, all the ports and buttons around the edge of the iPad are accessible. Some other third party headphones with larger plugs will not work out of the box.
DODOcase uses traditional book binding techniques, so it can bring back the primal pleasure of hardback books. If you close the case, it is. confused for a Moleskine notebook.
Traditional iPad 2 cases always cover the device’s sleek aluminum and glass body with cheap plastic, silicone οr nylon. But DODOcase provides an elegant alternative to them. Their iPad 2 case is handcrafted by book binding artisans in San Francisco, just using natural materials.
This DoDoCase iPad 2 great addon won’t be for everyone. Some people will probably love it, some will dislike the idea of adding bulk to something as thin and light as the iPad 2. It is great what DODOcase are doing with the product – bringing back lost skills of book binding and making everything by hand. Very impressive indeed.
The inside of the DODOcase is bright red, and there is a clear contrast between the discrete exterior and the vibrant interior. The red looks great with either a black οr a white iPad. Other colours are available, but the red is just perfect for me.
The DODOcase feels robust and protective by comparison. The staying is very similar to a Moleskine notebook, so the two compliment each other well. The elastic strap is just tight enough and loops back over the front cover in ‘typing mode’.
However when the iPad is the only thing you are carrying, it feels very exposed in a Smart Cover and I’m reluctant to put it down with the back of the iPad resting on a table.
Although the DODOcase doesn’t have the same ‘wow’ factor thаt the Smart Cover has, in the long run, it will be a valuable investment. The Smart Cover is great to use around the house and when you have something like a laptop bag to put your iPad in.
The exterior is stiff and will protect your iPad well, while the bamboo frame is beautifully cut and a perfect fit. This is a case thаt has really been designed, rather than rushed out of the door like some other iPad cases. The lid of the case folds back to elevate the iPad for typing, however the angle isn’t as steep as Apple’s Smart Cover.
The DODOcase cradles your device in a strong, yet gentle, bamboo tray. The multifunctional design also allows you to use the case as a stand for typing οr watching videos.
Protection & Utility
The DODOcase exterior gives your iPad the look and feel of a hard-bound book. Not only does this provide superior protection, it disguises your iPad to look like an ordinary book, preventing theft.Safe & Discreet
An elastic strap keeps your iPad2 protected while on the go. Offering a new solid core bamboo, complete with a four-piece tray design, this DoDoCase iPad 2 product perfectly matches the curvature of your iPad2 while providing access to all buttons and ports.Made from black Moroccan cloth and constructed using traditional book binding techniques, the cover of the DODOcase Classic for the iPad 2 is designed to fold back to be used as a stand.

This DoDoCase iPad 2 accessory is a hand-made, book-like case with an elegant wooden frame. The DodoCase has a moleskine-like design and elegantly encloses your entire iPad like a hardback book.
